The aim of this book is twofold: to question the focus on representations in animated films produced by Disney-Pixar, and to provide readers with tools for socio-cultural analysis of these cartoons and of cinema in general. Without embarking on a destruction of the magic surrounding these films, the goal of the book is to rethink them in a different way, and to revalue and better understand these representations. This high-quality work offers a profound reflection on pop culture, feminism and the fight against discriminations.

Célia Sauvage est docteure en études cinématographiques et audiovisuelles et chargée d’enseignement à Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle. Ses recherches sont spécialisées dans les approches culturelles, plus spécifiquement dans l’analyse des représentations des identités et des stéréotypes associés dans les films.
Célia Sauvage has a doctorate in film and audiovisual studies and is a lecturer at Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle. Her research is focused on cultural approaches, and more specifically on the analysis of representations of identities and associated stereotypes in film.
