Synopsis
Là où le feu et l’ours est le récit de la rencontre d’une jeune femme, Violette, et d’un ours nouveau-né, Têtard, dans une steppe désertique et hostile où le climat est dérégulé et la foudre frappe n’importe-où créant des vents de feu. Ils rencontrent d’autres voyageurs dans leur recherche d’un endroit protégé des feux, ils se réfugient temporairement dans un jardin. Un jour, Violette retrouve brutalement la mémoire de son passé et une vieille légende de l’existence d’une communauté où règnent l’interdépendance et la coopération, où les humains et non-humains apprennent, grandissent et vivent en harmonie, un endroit luxuriant nommé L’Oasis.
Fortement empreint d’imaginaire, ce récit vous transportera dans un univers déroutant, singulier et émouvant. Il est agrémenté d’un carnet réalisé par l’autrice qui permet de prolonger la lecture par des réflexions sur le climat, la société et notre rapport au vivant, en lien avec le roman.
Where the Fire and the Bear is the story of the encounter between a young woman, Violette, and a baby bear, Têtard, in a hostile, desertic environment, where the climate is dysregulated and lightings strike the earth randomly, creating fires. They meet fellow travelers on their way to escaping the fires and finding a garden to temporary settle in. But one day, Violette brutally remembers her past and an old legend, stating the existence of a community based on interdependence and cooperation, where humans and non-humans learn, grow and live in harmony, and where nature is luxuriant: the Oasis.
Full of imagination, this narrative will transport you to a puzzling, singular and moving world. It is embellished with a notebook produced by the author which allows the reading to be extended by reflections on the climate, society and our relationship with living things, in connection with the novel.

Corinne Morel Darleux est une femme politique, journaliste, autrice de Plutôt couler en beauté que flotter sans grâce (Libertalia, 2019, plus de 20 000 exemplaires vendus) et militante ecosocialiste. Après avoir milité au sein de plusieurs partis de gauche elle décide de se consacrer au militantisme de terrain et à l’écriture. Là où le feu et l’ours est son premier roman.
Corinne Morel Darleux is a French politician, journalist, author of Plutôt couler en beauté que flotter sans grâce (Libertalia, 2019, over 20,000 copies sold) and ecosocialist activist. After being involved in several left-wing parties, she decided to dedicate herself to writing and doing fieldwork. Là où le feu et l'ours is her first novel.
